ACERCA DE LA EXISTENCIA DEL VERDADERO VALOR DE UNA PROBABILIDAD

Resumen

Los modelos objetivistas se basan en la hipótesis determinística que postula la existencia de la probabilidad y que esta es cognoscible sólo en forma asintótica. El modelo subjetivista se basa en la hipótesis aleatorista de no existencia de una verdad sobre la probabilidad. Ahora bien, ambas hipótesis sólo son contrastables a partir de modelos estocásticos que no son estrictamente falsables. De modo que ni la hipótesis de existencia de un verdadero valor de la probabilidad de ocurrencia de un evento ni el postulado de Finettiano que sostiene que “la probabilidad no existe” son estrictamente verificables. Abstract Objectivist models are based on the deterministic hypothesis that postulates the existence of probability, which is cognoscible only in an asymptotic way. On the other hand, subjectivist models consider the aleatoristic hypothesis according to which there is no truth about probability. However, both hypotheses may only be compared through stochastic models, which are not strictly falsifiable. Therefore, neither the hypothesis stating the existence of a true value regarding the probability of occurrence of an event nor the Finetti's postulate which sustains that "probability does not exist” are strictly verifiable.
