Vol 2 No 32 (2024): Rethinking the Sequential Policy Model: Reflections and Stylized Facts

The Sequential Policy Model is widely used in policy analysis due to its ability to break down the process into clear stages: agenda-setting, debate, decision-making, implementation, and evaluation. This approach allows for a better understanding and evaluation of how policies evolve over time. Despite its popularity, the model is a simplification that does not always capture the complexity of political dynamics. This article reviews the model’s evolution, discussing its strengths and limitations, and offers reflections on its application in contemporary contexts.

Keywords: Sequential Model, public policies, policy analysis, decision-making, evaluation.
